WebSonar is based on Virginia Systems' Sonar Professional search engine that was originally developed in 1988. WebSonar combines this search engine with a standard web server to provide a flexible and scaleable, browser based document management solution.
WebSonar provides a secure, private, browser based text retrieval system that supports millions of documents. WebSonar dynamically provides a WWW presence from PDF, image, audio, and-or video flies stored in individual libraries on your computer.
The content of these libraries can not be indexed by the robot search engines. Each Library can support thousands of documents and every document can contain thousands of pages. The library's document access is controlled by the library owner.
This version of WebSonar is designed for corporate level solutions and provides 120 pre-organized libraries ready to serve. You first claim a vacant library by tapping on the default Welcome Image to load the library’s Settings Screen where you can edit your Access and Library Comments preferences.
Each Library's home page has a unique URL and provides search functions and a ten page looped slide show. The Welcome and Avatar images as well as the ten slide images can be updated by the library owner at any time. Anyone on your local network can link to and view your home page.
The content can be browsed or searched at the page level or by Title. Each page provides a searchable note that can be used for commenting, bookmarking and collaboration. Each individual library can be set to Public or Private and the Comments can be set to Read Only.
Adding new content to each library is simple; just upload any files that you want to include and then select the "Index My Library" link in your Library's File Uploads Panel. That's it. All the libraries are now just a click away in any web browser.
