What are Bus Stop Area Maps?
Area Maps are those bus maps on most bus shelters in London that show all the routes passing through your local area.
You know the ones you try to read but there's always someone sitting in front of them and they moan as you trying and read over their shoulder.
It's probably late and dark and you might be worse for wear.
You'd get a taxi if there was any taxis. You'd get a minicab but don't want to sell your soul for the fare.
It's dark and you're trying to read a big map with 100's of routes. You know you're in the right area but which bus stop.
Or it's early but you're late.. for work. A tube station was closed from over crowding and you've been thrown out onto the street to find your own way to work. You're not even sure which way is work. You just wish you had a app to show you where you are, which buses pass through here.
And a bus is hurtling down the street towards you. You can see its number but not the destinations. You wish you'd gone to Specsavers. Why can't there be an app where you can put in a route number and show all the stops in less than two taps.
Well now there's an app for that:
London Bus Spider Maps
Start it up it, it finds you current location then shows you where you are on a map.
Then finds the nearest bus area maps for your location.
OR scroll the map and it will find the maps in that location.
ENHANCED MAP VIEWER
Tap once and it finds the map on TFL's site and displays it in its enhanced Map reader.
Use the special buttons to move around the map quickly.
DOUBLE tap to zoom in.
No need to pinch just keep double tapping and it bounces back out.
Click on INFO to jump straight to the Routes table.
Click on ROUTES to show you the bus routes on the map and their stops.
Click on CENTER to jump back to the center of the map.
Click on MAP to see the centre, yellow map displayed on a map.
